ACS Portland Section: "Shark Tank"
The Nov. 2 Portland Section meeting introduces members to the business of startups, specifically how an entrepreneur makes his/her business an appealing investment. The meeting will offer two local startups the opportunity to pitch their business to representatives from the Chemical Angel Network (CAN), a group that provides investment and mentorship for early-stage chemical startups. Although a novel idea for an ACS meeting, startups and angel investors are a vital link in today's greater science enterprise, supporting important discoveries and providing unique opportunities for scientists. As attendees listen to the presentations, they can begin to understand what it takes for entrepreneurs to be successful. Come and enjoy an hour of ACS "Shark Tank" on Nov. 2!
